I Have Been a Fan of James Taylor for 30 Years

Do you know that I just realized the other day that I have been a fan of James Taylor since 1978. That is just over 30 years of fandom of one artist's music. It is hard for me to believe that I have been a fan of one artist for so long, and also that James Taylor has lasted as a successful artist for 40 years. Amazing. James Taylor's life is full of ups and downs, struggles with drugs, and yet, he has persevered and become one of the most famous music icons of our generation. Taylor's music transcends time, and is still quite popular today. There is just something special about his melodic voice, and his tunes. For me, many of his songs evoke memories of my lifetime associated with them. Yet Taylor is still producing albums, one as recently as 2008, Covers. It shows that performers with true talent can continue, even in our world of change, and chaos. As music technology gets better, Taylor's voice and chording in his songs just continues to improve over time. I know that as long as I live I will enjoy his work, and I continue to look forward to what he comes up with in the future. Some musicians mellow with age, yet James Taylor has been mellow since the beginning, at least in style of music, so his music and voice seem to age like fine wine, into a better and richer vintage. I say congratulations to James Taylor, and to much more in the future. |
